Stringent amendments & unilateral enforcement in regard to
PFA Act/Rules, 1955, (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 1977, Food Safety & Standards Act/ 2006.
IBMA’s continuous effective efforts to ameliorate problems of Biscuit Industry due to amendments in PFA Rules and Packaged Commodities Rules, the newly enacted Food Safety & Standards Act 2006, with the Ministry of Health, Deptt of Consumer Affairs and Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Govt of India.
As a result of follow up by IBMA, Govt has already extended the dates for 6 months, of implementation of both Notification No.GSR- 491(E) under PFA Rules(on printing of detailed information relating to Nutritional/Energy Value etc) and No GSR-425(E) under Packaged Commodities Rules(Compulsory printing of name, address, telephone number/email etc on food packages.
IBMA organized a one-day Seminar on Food Laws – Problems & Prospects on 11 August 2007 at New Delhi, and discussed is,/sues relating to problems on Food Laws such as PFA Act/ Rules 1955, Packaged Commodities Rules 1977, Food Safety & Standards Act 2006. Compendium of Proceedings and Recommendations/Suggestions of the Seminar is being taken up with the Ministries concerned.
