Subject: 1. Repeal of the enactment and orders mentioned in the Second Schedule of the Food Safety and    Standards Act, 2006 and the Milk and Milk Products Regulation, 1992 (Dated: 04-08-2011)  2.  Final Notification on Food Safety and Standards Regulations, 2011.

We wish to inform members that Govt. of India, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has issued Notification No.F.No.P-15025/41/2011-DFQC dated 4th August, 2011 on“Repealing the enactment and orders in the Second Schedule of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and the Milk and Milk Products Regulation, 1992, with effect from 5^th August, 2011”.

In view of this order, the following Act & Orders stand repealed w.e.f. 5^th August, 2011:

1.     The Prevention of Food Adulteration Act, 1954 (37 of 1954).

2.     The Fruit Products Order, 1955.

3.     The Meat food product Order, 1973.

4.     The Vegetable Oil Products (Control) Order, 1947.

5.     Edible Oils Packaging (Regulations) Order, 1998.

6.     The Solvent Extracted Oil, De-oiled Meal, and Edible Flour (Control) Order, 1967.

7.     The Milk and Milk Products Order, 1992.

8.     Any other order issued the under Essential Commodities Act, 1955 (10 of 1955) relating to food.

At the same time, the Govt. of India, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has also notified the final Food Safety and Standards Regulations, 2011 on 1^st August, 2011 effective from 5^th August, 2011. These Regulations cover following items:

1.     FOOD SAFETY AND STANDARDS (LICENSING AND REGISTRATION OF FOOD BUSINESSES), REGULATIONS 2011

2.     FOOD SAFETY AND STANDARDS (PACKAGING AND LABELLING) REGULATIONS, 2011

3.     FOOD SAFETY AND STANDARDS (FOOD PRODUCTS STANDARDS AND FOOD ADDITIVES) REGULATIONS, 2011, Part I

4.     FOOD SAFETY AND STANDARDS (FOOD PRODUCTS STANDARDS AND FOOD ADDITIVES) REGULATIONS, 2011, Part II

5.     FOOD SAFETY AND STANDARDS (PROHIBITION AND RESTRICTIONS ON SALES) REGULATIONS, 2011

6.     FOOD SAFETY AND STANDARDS (CONTAMINANTS, TOXINS AND RESIDUES) REGULATIONS, 2011

7.     FOOD SAFETY AND STANDARDS (LABORATORY AND SAMPLE ANALYSIS) REGULATIONS, 2011
