Further to our circular NoIBMA/PFA/362 dated 21 January 2008 on the above subject, we are glad to inform members that the date of implementation of Notification No 491(E) dated 21 August 2006, has been deferred for three months from 20 February 2008, i.e. upto 20 May 2008.

The Corrigendum issued in this connection by the Ministry of Heal & Family Welfare, Govt of India, vide No GSR-70(E) F.No.P.15014/9/2001-PH(F) dated 5th
February 2008 is enclosed for information and guidance of members.

Meanwhile, IBMA is actively pursuing the issue of appropriate further amendments in the Notification No 491(E), keeping in view the difficulties faced by biscuit manufacturers in regard lebel printing of detailed information on quantum/percentage etc of nutritional value/energy value, ingredients, QUID etc in coordination with apex organizations of Industry.

Members are once again requested to send us your point/comments/suggestions on specific issues, so that we can communicate the same to the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt of India, at the earliest.
