As you are aware the Govt of Uttar Pradesh while introducing Value Added Tax(VAT) from 1 January 2008, has fixed the rate of VAT on Biscuits at the highest rate of 12.5%.

While IBMA had earlier submitted our representation to the Chief Minister and officials concerned to fix VAT @ 4% on Biscuits, the levy of VAT at the rate of 12,5% would further cripple the industry, which is already reeling under the escalating prices of wheat flour, vegetable oil, wages, fuel, transportation etc.

In order to highlight the plight of tie Biscuit Industry and trade in the State, Shri B P Agarwal, President, IBMA will address a Press Conference on Thursday,10 January 2008 at 11.00 AM at MERA MANN HOTEL (Banquet Hall), Husain Ganj Choraya, Station Road, LUCKNOW(Ph 0522-2638181 / 14).
